Braxton Berrios is not your typical, big-time college wide receiver, at least not by the looks. Yet, the 2014 wide receiver prospect committed to a school that is known for having what Berrios possesses the best and that is speed.
The three-star recruit committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday over Tennessee, South Carolina and Oregon, among others.
Berrios is rated by many as simply an athlete because of how dynamic he can be on the field. 247Sports rates him as the 34th best athlete in the nation and 14th best player from the state of North Carolina.
The 5-8, 170 pounder will not impress you with size, but his 4.5 forty-yard dash and ability to change directions will give coaches and defensive backs in the ACC fits. The ball skills and athleticism that Berrios possesses is up there with the elite athletes in this class.
As a junior last season, the Raleigh, NC native recorded gaudy stats as he rushed for over 1,100 yards and with 22 rushing touchdowns, while reeling in 766 yards through the air with 10 touchdowns. On top of that, he also threw for a score as well.
With the commitment of Berrios, the Hurricanes now have 26 commitments in their 2014 recruiting class which now ranks fifth overall in the nation and first in the ACC, according to 247Sports. The class includes eight players that are of four-star ratings.
